Circular Repair Hub Using 3D Scanning and Recycled-Material 3D Printing
Spring 2026Project Overview
Project Coordinator and Sponsor: Sezer Ozerinc Ph.D, Assistant Professor
Responsible Department: Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering
Total GAF Funding: $17,000
Themes: Sustainable Manufacturing, Recycled Material, Reverse Engineering
Goal: Create an on campus repair hub at UCCS where students use 3D scanning, reverse engineering, and recycled-material 3D printing to replace broken noncritical plastic parts on campus items and everyday objects.
Impact: Number of parts repaired or replaced. Number of items returned to service. Waste diverted from disposal. Recycled PETG used in functional parts. Savings from reusable digital part files.
