The UCCS Office of Veteran and Military Student Affairs (OVMSA) received grant funding from the UCCS Green Action Fund to purchase refurbished iPads. The iPads supported the OVMSA initiative to transition to a digital, low paper system for student orientations and semester benefits processing. They estimated that their office would be able to reduce the amount of paper it uses by 3,000 – 3,500 sheets per year. This initiative, with the introduction of iPads, also created an opportunity to better engage new veteran students with other initiatives, like the PAVE Peer Mentor Program, as part of their initial intake. Furthermore, our partnership with the Green Action Fund enables their office to participate in and educate our students in paper waste reduction and other greening programs.
