By implementing the OZZI system at our school, the hope is to reduce the waste of compostable to-go boxes on campus and create a positive culture change surrounding food. The OZZI is a high-tech metal box that has four elements to the program: collection, the reusable container, the token for exchange of value and verification of exchange and online maintenance for the collection and updating of the system. For anyone, student or faculty, on campus taking food to go, they have a choice of paying every time they get a compostable container or one-time buy of a OZZI reusable container for a certain amount. This not only greatly reduces the need for getting a compostable to-go box, but it also promotes sustainable living.
