The graduate assistant at the UCCS Farm, which bases its practices on permaculture design and landscaping, received a certification in Permaculture. This is a regenerative method of farming that is based on earth centered practices and living food systems. This course taught her small scale animal husbandry, which applies to the care and keeping of bees and chickens at the UCCS farm. The course covered water diversion projects, which is in line with the farm expansion project. Permaculture is regenerative as nothing is lost and one seeks to create through regeneration, it transcends the concepts of sustainability as it gives back to the earth.
