The plan is to replace all the 3.5 GPF toilets in Summit Village with either the dual flush or low flush toilets by the year of 2015. Our hope is by replacing the toilets, there will be about a 13,000 gallons or a 20-60% in the cutback on the water consumption and the water bill in Summit Village. This will contribute to UCCS’s goal of becoming a more sustainable campus. With these new toilets, they should also require less maintenance and upkeep from the custodial staff. The other goal for this project is to increase student awareness of their water consumption in the dorms and create a more eco friendly environment.
