Project Overview

The goal of this project was to replace equipment which would allow bicycle officers to increase patrols, visibility, outreach and education. All eight police officers who are part of the UCCS Bike Patrol Unit have been certified through the International Police Mountain Bike Association. Members of the patrol unit average 15-20 miles of riding per shift. It is estimated the bikes will save approximately 300 gallons of fuel per year. This is a conservative estimate because not all officers are able to ride all shifts.
