SOLEstainable Gear
SOLEstainable Gear
Project Overview
America generates over 13 million tons of textile waste each year. The SOLEStainable Gear Repair Station allows UCCS Students and the UCCS Community the opportunity to repair used or damage clothing, gear, other (example: tent fabric and zippers) instead of discarding their items. As our campus continues to grow and expand, this station for our community to repair items of clothing and equipment will showcase the desire to reduce our environmental impact both on campus and off. As the Patagonia Worn wear Tour in 2018 showcased, they have a strong need on campus that our community desires in the form of clothing and gear repair. Outdoor gear is extremely expensive and most students cannot afford to purchase new items. By providing this new service, they filled a campus need and also positively impacted our environment by decreasing waste reduction.
